Lenten Almsgiving Project - March 29 & 30
Lenten Almsgiving Project - March 29 & 30
The weekend of March 29 & 30, we will be collecting donations for Seedlings Braille Books for Children.
In 1979, Debra Bonde learned how scarce and expensive children's braille books were so she became a Certified Braille Transcriber. By 1984, Seedlings Braille Books for Children, located in a tiny office in Debra's basement in Detroit, was incorporated as a Michigan nonprofit. By 1997, they grew so big they took up residence in an office building in Livonia, where they still are today. By 2024, they had produced 3/4 of a million books over the company's lifetime! Average cost to produce a book is $10.

Cash and check donations will be accepted after each Mass next weekend. If you would like to donate by check, please make the check payable to Seedlings, NOT St. Edith. Seedlings is a registered 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. Your donations help to subsidize braille book production, keeping Seedlings' books affordable.
Thank you in advance for your support of this wonderful organization!
