Kids Coalition Against Hunger Meal Packing Event
2022 Kids Coalition Against Hunger Meal Packing Event
For several years now we have partnered with Service Clubs of Livonia; Livonia AM Rotary Club, Livonia Lions Club, and the Livonia Rotary Club as well as MASCO and The Legacy Consultants of Thrivent to host the Kids Coalition Against Hunger Meal Packing event! It's time to make a difference and combat hunger in our community and around the world by packing several thousand meals! A photo from last year’s event can be seen above.
This event will take place on Saturday, Ocotber 12, 2024 in the Parish Hall from 9:00 am - 11:30 am. It is an in-person volunteer event that is well attended. The spots for volunteering fill up fast. It is not only St Edith parishioners who volunteers but also people from the clubs mentioned above as well as others. For this event please make sure to sign up to volunteer early, as the spots fill up quickly.

Little Food Pantry (Blessing Box)
In front of the Gym area by the school you may have noticed a "Blessing Box." We will stock canned (NO GLASS PLEASE!) or boxed non-perishable items in this box for folks to be able to take as needed. We will keep it stocked with cans of soups and stews and canned pasta, boxed cereals or macaroni and cheese -- things that can make a meal and fill you up when you're hungry. We no longer have a Food Pantry; this Blessing Box will take its place. We will stock items are the Blessing Box in the back pantry near Christian Service. |
Lighthouse Warming Center
Are you looking for a meaningful and rewarding way to give back to your community? Look no further than volunteering at the Lighthouse Warming Center! Every Tuesday from 6pm to 11pm, you have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those in need.
As a volunteer, your role will be crucial in providing support and care for guests at the center. One or two volunteers will register guests upon arrival, ensuring they feel welcomed and acknowledged. Others will serve a light meal consisting of soup and sandwiches, offering nourishment and warmth on those chilly nights.
But it doesn't stop there! As a volunteer, you also have the chance to connect with the guests on a personal level. Take some time to sit down with them, listen to their stories, and offer companionship. Your presence can make all the difference in brightening someone's day.
After dinner is served and conversations are shared, it's time for clean-up duty. You'll lend a hand by cleaning counters, dishes, and even sweeping the floor - ensuring that the space is tidy and ready for another day of providing warmth and comfort.
The shift ends at 11pm, but the impact of your kindness lasts much longer. By volunteering at the Lighthouse Warming Center, you become an essential part of building a stronger community where everyone feels cared for.
Join us by signing up to make a difference - one meal at a time!
Funeral Luncheons

- Volunteers the day of to help serve and clean up.
- Volunteers to provide desserts, which can be dropped off the day of the Funeral Lunch.

Holiday Outreach
St Edith’s Holiday Outreach Committee reaches out to those in need from chosen charities for the three major holidays: Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. For Easter and Thanksgiving food collections are held. At Christmas parishioners donate presents requested from the Outreach Giving Tree and then committee volunteers sort and pack the gift donations.
